Tips for Planning Your Wedding
A Wedding Planner is an invaluable resource for any bride-to-be. The ability to have access to someone with years of experience at planning weddings will make you confident that you are making good choices and help alleviate the stress usually associated with planning a wedding. Please read these additional tips to help you prepare - so you can fully enjoy your special day.
- Announce Your Wedding – Be sure to have your wedding announcement printed in your local newspaper. Not only will everyone in town be able to share your good news, but you will also have a wonderful keepsake.
- Know the Plan – To alleviate stress and confusion during your reception, be sure your sales consultant clearly explains the timing and sequence of events as they will unfold. Knowing in advance when formalities will occur (special dances, cake cutting, bouquet etc.) will allow you to truly enjoy your reception and have fun with your guests.
- Pick Your Music – Ask your Band/DJ to provide you with a list of his/her repertoire. Then, mark off all of the songs you wish to be played at your reception and return the list prior to your wedding day.
- Sweet Table or Chocolate Fountain – Make a big hit by offering your guests a beautiful assortment of delicious deserts.
- Seat Younger Guests Near the DJ/Band – When designing your seating plan, be sure to seat your younger guests near the band or DJ. Uncle Phil and Aunt Ellen will be very appreciative!
- Plan your First Dance – For your first dance together, consider one of these classics: Endless Love by Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey; It Had to be You by Harry Connick Jr.; Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton or Always and Forever by Heatwave or Luther Vandross. When you have chosen this special song, be sure to practice dancing to that song. You will feel much more comfortable when your wedding day arrives.
- Have Your Tips Ready in Advance – It is appropriate to tip your limousine driver. Ten to twenty percent is a reasonable guideline.
- Rely on Your Room Captain – A Room Captain or Banquet Captain will be an invaluable help at your reception. He or she will coordinate all of the details of the day. They will be at your beck-and-call to answer questions, direct activities and communicate with your vendors. Be sure your reception facility offers this service.
- Create a Vendor List - Ask your Wedding Planner for the telephone numbers of all of your vendors ... florist, limousine company, disc jockey, etc. Then, if you have any questions regarding your wedding day, you will have a quick reference for getting direct answers to your questions.
